Garrett & Associates Aquired by Two Brothers from the C.W. Courtney CompanyCleveland, OH: January 8, 2007 -- Garrett & Associates, Inc., the 116 year old land surveying and civil engineering firm, has been acquired by Christopher and Douglas Courtney of The C.W. Courtney Company. Garrett & Associates is a third generation business, founded in Cleveland in 1890. The company has a rich history with most of the principal buildings in downtown Cleveland through either land surveying or civil engineering.
The C.W. Courtney Company was founded in 1903 and is a well established civil engineering and surveying firm based in Mayfield Village, Ohio. Together, the two companies have 221 years of experience in the Cleveland engineering and surveying market, and will employ approximately 25 employees.
“The strength and experience of Garrett & Associates as an expert in downtown Cleveland land surveying is a nice fit with the municipal engineering, land planning and development, and surveying expertise of The C.W. Courtney Company in suburban Cleveland,” says Christopher L. Courtney, CEO of The C.W. Courtney Company. Although the two companies offer several complementary capabilities, the new owners plan to continue to operate Garrett & Associates as an independent business and retain the name, as well as the current staff of civil engineers, surveyors, and office personnel.
